Obituary of Ila Meyers
Ila Orda Meyers of Grand View passed away at her home at the age of 80 on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. She fought a courageous battle against Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).
A viewing will be held on June 2, 2023, at Rost Funeral Home from 5-7. Graveside services will be at Riverside Cemetery in Grand View at 11:00 lunch will follow at the Senior Center.
Ila was born on October 20, 1942, in Mountain Home, Idaho to Martin Litke and Charlotte Evans Litke. In 1949 she went to a little school in Grand View called Birch Creek School. At the end of the fourth grade, they moved from Grand View to Eagle then to Newport Oregon.
While growing up in Newport she worked a few jobs but would go back to Grand View to stay with her grandparents during Christmas break and the summers. She would work at Evans Grocery which was owned by her grandparents.
It was in Grand View that she met the love of her life, Cecil Meyers. They got married on January 9, 1963, in Elko Nevada. They were married for 58 years. They had four children: Marty, Gina, David and Tom.
Ila was an avid gardener. She always had a beautiful garden every year. She raised enough vegetables to feed everyone for the summer and made sure she grew pumpkins for all the grandkids and great-grand kids. She was the best cook and always had a meal for everyone and a big request was her hot rolls. At Christmas she had the kitchen counter full of homemade cookies and candy for her family and friends.
Ila is survived by her children, Marty (Norma) Meyers of Mountain Home, Gina (Erick) Manda of Meridian, David (Christine) Meyers of Grand View, Tom (Michelle) Meyers of Oreana, Sister in Laws Cherry Meyers of Grand View, Joyce Meyers of Mountain Home and Becky Litke of Hanes, Oregon, her best friend Pat Kase of Mountain Home and numerous grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Meyers, parents Martin and Charlotte Litke, her in laws Alex and Alma Meyers her brothers Bruce and Jerry Litke, nieces Cheryll Meyers, Julie Meyers Lindquist and granddaughter Heather Meyers.
